Mugging in Massachusetts: The Jonathan Page - Tim Johnson crash video

This video, captured by Colt at Cyclingdirt.com, shows Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com rider Tim Johnson moving inside Jonathan Page at the NACT race in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and cutting out the Planet Bike rider's front wheel while passing. Page is obviously less than pleased with the maneuver, and you can hear what sounds like Jeremy Powers (Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com) instructing his teammate Jamey Driscoll, "We're waiting."

Page will now be heading off to Europe for his world cup campaign while Johnson focuses on the NACT and the USGP, but it will be interesting to see if this incident fuels a longer feud between two of America's best cyclocross riders.

Starcrossed: It's a Thriller!

Check out this commercial by Evan Schmitt for the upcoming Starcrossed, the opening round of the North American Cyclocross Trophy. The race at Marymoor Velodrome in Redmond, Washington, is Sept. 19. The Rad Racing GP, round two of the NACT, is the very next day near Tacoma.

Some wet-and-wild Portland Cup cyclocross video

The Portland Cup cyclocross races on Dec. 1 and 2, 2007, marked final weekend of the year's U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross series and was greeted with torrential rain, a bit of snow and a mighty windstorm. The conditions made for some great racing, captured here on video by cyclofile.com.

Classic Video: 1988 Giro's Gavia Pass Nightmare

The video quality isn't so great, and the fuzzy foreigner doing the commentary didn't have the decency to speak American, but this rare footage of the 1988 Giro d'Italia's Stage 14 provides a glimpse of the brutally numbing conditions riders faced that day on the Gavia Pass.

Andy Hampsten, riding for the 7-Eleven squad, topped the pass with Dutchman Erik Breukink and survived the bone-chilling 25k descent that followed. Hampsten finished second that day behind Breukink, but his heroic effort pushed him to the top of the overall standings on his way to becoming the first (and only) American to win the Giro.
